As a company, we work hard to try and improve the gender balance across the business and over the past five years we’ve seen a 52% increase in the number of women employed at AJN.

Fifteen per cent of our current workforce are women, and while we push to increase this figure, we’re pleased to be above the industry average of 11% for the building and construction sector.

We also strive to ensure we have a representation of women across all areas of the business and currently have women employees working as HGV drivers, production operatives, combi / forklift loaders, transport coordinators, maintenance technicians and health and safety specialists.

To help raise awareness of International Women’s Day we’ve been talking to some of our colleagues about their experiences of working in the UK steel industry.

Please click the links on our BCSA video page to hear what they have to say about life at AJN and their advice for anyone who’s thinking about a career in building and construction.
