The BCSA is supporting the New Homes in New Ways exhibition at the Building Centre, which runs from the 24th October 2024 – 21st February 2025. It tells the story of how Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), unlocking “unlikely” land and rethinking the economics can accelerate the supply of quality new homes, with an emphasis on delivering the social rent housing needed at pace, in the first instance to get children out of homelessness.

Light-gauge steel framing is a well-established construction method which is ideally suited to provide housing and multi-storey, multi-occupancy residential buildings for the modern age, which supports the ethos behind this exhibition. The British Constructional Steelwork Association and The Steel Construction Institute have published the National Light-gauge Steelwork Specification (NLSS) to promote greater consistency in project specifications involving light-gauge steel frames. This document is designed to be easily integrated into contract documentation, ensuring acceptable standards for both manufacturing and installing light-gauge steel frame buildings are met.

As part of the programme of events, we will be hosting a webinar on the Tuesday 26th November 2024 between 1.00pm – 1.45pm called “Light Steel Framing for New Homes”. It will cover light-gauge steel framing, how it can help meet the housing needs and also introduce and explain the newly launched NLSS.

Details on where to register to attend will be available soon.
